Pimlico Puffins is a swimming club for those who have disability to learn to swim or be able to exercise in the water. All ages, size, shapes and characters are welcome to our club to enjoy a swim.
Pimlico Puffins is affiliated to the Halliwick Association of Swimming Therapy. Therefore we are part of a network of clubs in our area primarily in Greater London, North of the Thames.
What we do
Well, firstly we have fun! We aim to provide a safe and pleasant environment in which people with disabilities can swim. The pool is closed to the public during Puffins sessions so you can enjoy the pool in private.
The social aspect of the Club is just as important as the swimming. We pride ourselves on the friendly atmosphere of our Club and hope that you will make new friends.
Where we meet
We meet on Mondays at the Queen Mother Sports Centre, Vauxhall Bridge Road, Victoria SW1V 1EL, from 7.45pm and swim from 8.00 to 9.00pm. From 9.00 to 9.30pm, after getting changed, we gather for a Ribena and a biscuit for a well earned rest.
Safety first
There will always be helpers who are trained present at each club evening. In addition, there will be lifeguards provided by the sports centre on the poolside at all times. They ensure that normal water safety precautions are observed and that activities in the pool are safe. If at any time you are concerned about you or your swimmer’s safety, seek help from the lifeguards or other helpers around you.
Our helpers are required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check carried out to ensure they can work with children and vulnerable adults.
